Board Honors Local Science Fair Winners
See a larger version of this photo...CCWD's Board of Directors last night honored three students and their teachers for award winning water projects in the Contra Costa County Science and Engineering Fair. Each student earned $300 and their teachers $100.
Melanie Quan, a seventh grader at North Creek Academy in Walnut Creek (far right, front row) finished second with her project, "Worldwide Water: One Pot at a Time." Her teacher, Ben Semple, was unable to attend the meeting.
Cooper Tomkovicz and Kyle McGrath, 10th graders at De La Salle High School, (in the front row) finished second in the Senior Division for their project, "Water Filter Backpack." Their teacher (left in the front row) is Viki Acquistapace.
The students told Board members about their projects.
This is the fourth year of the Excellence in Water Research award category at the Science Fair. There were 20 students entered in the category.
