January 21, 2018, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Instructor's Backyard in Berkeley
Berkeley, CA 94702
This class will be taught in a large Berkeley garden with over 20 different fruit trees to practice on. We will cover which varieties do well in the area, as well as purchasing good trees, pruning in youth, on-going pruning, and natural approaches to common disease and insect issues. Our goal will be to gain confidence in our ability to take care of productive, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing trees. This is a hands on class, and participants will have an opportunity to make some cuts with instructor supervision.

Growing Food 101: Getting Your Garden Started is the first class of a three part series that spans three months (one class each month). Session 1: Getting Started will cover food safety, soil structure, building raised vegetable beds, and setting up irrigation systems and watering strategies. You'll learn everything you need to know to structure your edible garden for success.
This class can stand alone or you can sign up for all three classes. If you'd like to sign up for all three at once, please call the Biofuel Oasis or come into our store to pay; we'll give you a $15 discount on the total ($5 off each class)! Scroll down for a description of all three sessions.
All three classes will take place at the Biofuel Oasis. You will get to do some hands-on work at the end of each session in our large planters and check the progress of your work in the next class.
