The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Feasibility Report, which documents potential costs and benefits of the Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project.
Statement from Contra Costa Water District
On August 13, the Bureau of Reclamation announced the release of the Final Feasibility Report for the expansion of Los Vaqueros Reservoir. The Recommended Plan described in the Report provides for Federal Cost sharing of up to 25-percent of project construction costs. This is an important milestone as the completion of this report is necessary for federal funding to be approved for construction activities - the support from our representatives in Washington DC was crucial and is greatly appreciated. This is not the final milestone for the project, but it is a significant accomplishment closing out many years of engineering and economic evaluation, environmental planning and public engagement. We are fortunate to have Reclamation as a partner as we have worked closely to propose a project that provides local, regional, state-wide and federal benefits. With Reclamation, the California Water Commission, and all the Local Agency Partners, we look forward to completing the next necessary milestones that will get us to construction.
